A comparative analysis of national strategies in response to the AIDS
epidemic, and how these impact AIDS prevalence, can leach us about sol
utions for prevention. This paper studies AIDS in Cuba, Haiti and Hawa
ii. These countries and states have been chosen for their similarities
in size, population, climate and major industries, and their differen
ces in political and economic structures. The paper surveys the health
care structures of each country or state; and social economic and pol
icy factors affecting the disease. It compares AIDS prevalence and exa
mines prevention and treatment strategies. In conclusion, the paper wi
ll discuss and analyze AIDS prevalence and strategies in Hawaii, Haiti
and Cuba, and will raise questions to be considered in AIDS intervent
ion planning in any society.
