Abstract
Farnesyl oleate (3,7,11-trimethyl-2,6,10-dodecatrienyl 9-octadecenoate ), farnesyl palmitate (3,7,11-trimethyl-2,6,10-dodecatrienyl hexadecan oate), farnesyl palmitoleate (3,7,11-trimethyl-2,6,10-dodecatrienyl 9- hexadecenoate) and farnesyl linolenate (3,7,11-trimethyl-2,6,10-dodeca trienyl 9,12,15-octadecatrienoate) were obtained by incubating farneso l with fractions from homogenized cells of Botryococcus braunii B race . Farnesyl oleate was also found among metabolites derived from mevalo nic acid in feeding experiments with the alga.
