Abstract
The orientation of displaced homing pigeons at the moment of their rel ease was tested using an octagonal orientation cage. Under certain con ditions, the cage bearings of old, experienced pigeons show rather goo d homeward orientation, while the directional choices of young birds a re not related to the home direction.
