Abstract
The Monte Carlo renormalization-group method is applied to the spin-1 Ising model with nearest- and next-nearest-neighbor interaction. Its c ritical temperatures are compared with those of the spin-1/2 Ising mod el. The thermal exponent nu for J2/J1 = - 1.0 (J1 > 0) is smaller than that of the spin-1/2 Ising model.
