Abstract
Among several aflatoxin B-1 (AFB(1))-binding proteins in primary cultu red hepatocytes of chicken embryo, a cytosolic 25 kDa protein proved t o be an AFB(1)-specific binding protein. Binding of AFB(1) to a cytoso lic protein of the same molecular mass as that seen in vivo was also d etectable in a cell-free system and was dependent on the microsomal co mponents. The binding was observed in the in vitro systems derived fro m AFB(1)-sensitive animals such as chicken, rabbit, and rat. These fin dings suggest that the 25 kDa AFB(1)-binding protein(s) is involved in the intracellular process of AFB(1)-mediated toxicity.
