Go. Shonaike et al., STUDIES OF BLENDS OF POLY(PHENYLENE SULFIDE) AND A LIQUID-CRYSTALLINEPOLYMER - TIME-TEMPERATURE SUPERPOSITION, Journal of macromolecular science. Physics, 34(3), 1995, pp. 177-197
Polymer blends containing poly(phenylene sulfide) (PPS) and liquid cry
stalline polymer (LCP) of varying compositions were injection molded a
nd tested. Three-point bending tests were carried out on annealed and
unannealed samples at various temperatures and strain rates. The time-
temperature master curves were constructed by shifting the experimenta
l modulus data at each point of the curves. The increase in bending mo
dulus and reduction of bending strength with increasing LCP content we
re attributed to the skin-core morphology. The time-temperature curves
revealed that the bending modulus of the blends can be superimposed o
ver a wide range of temperatures and strain rates.
