The problem of determining the distribution of the thermal stresses in
the neighborhood of a penny-shaped Crack of defined deformed shape un
der general temperature conditions is solved. The defined deformed sha

e This problem physically corresponds to the case in which a thin circ
ular disclike inclusion is situated in an infinite medium whose faces
are subjected to different temperature. A closed form solution is obta
ined, reducing the problem to a set of Abel integral equations. The th
ermal stress singularities at the rim of the thin disclike inclusion i
r discussed In a special case of temperature conditions, thermal stres
ses at a general point of the medium are obtained and presented graphi
cally.
