Abstract
Some mixed ligand complexes of aluminium of the type [(acac)(2)Al(mu-O Pri)(2)Al(O-g-O)](n) have been prepared by the reactions of [Al(OPri)( 2)(acac)](2) and glycols (HO-G-OH) in 1 : 1 molar ratio in refluxing b enzene (where acac = CH3COCHCOCH3; G=(CH2)(2), CH2CH(CH3), C(CH3)(2)CH 2CH(CH3), OH2CH(C2H5)CH(C2H7), (CH2)(4); (CH2)(5), (CH2)(6); n = 1 or 2). These are soluble in common organic solvents and show tetranuclear behaviour in chloroform except [(acac)(2)Al(p-OPri)(2)Al{OC(CH3)(2)CH 2CH(CH3)O}], which is dinuclear. These derivatives have been character ized by elemental analysis, IR, H-1, C-13 and Al-27 NMR spectral studi es. Two types of aluminium sites, tetrahedral and octahedral, are pres ent in the Al-27 NMR spectra of all these novel heterocyclic derivativ es.
