Abstract
Angular distributions of ejected electrons from the mpnd autoionizing states in the alkaline-earth atoms (m = 3 to 6 for Mg, Ca, Sr and Ba a toms) have been investigated. Starting from the most general theory of photoexcitation, we have carried out specific analytic expressions in terms of the reduced dipole matrix elements for various angular distr ibutions corresponding to different ion-core states. The properties of the asymmetry parameters which characterize the angular distribution are studied in detail. Manifestations involved in both total and diffe rential cross sections of photoionization are interpreted.
