Abstract
The complex (eta(6)-naphthalene)(eta(4)-COD)ruthenium(0), I, (COD=cycl oocta-1,5-diene), in the presence of acetonitrile, easily catalyzes th e isomerization of allyl ethers and allyl acetals, having different st eric and electronic features, to the corresponding vinyl derivatives a t 65 degrees C with turnover frequencies depending on the structure of the allylic compounds. Supported and unsupported ruthenium metal part icles, obtained by treatment of I with hydrogen (1 atm, room temperatu re), have been also found to be active heterogeneous catalysts in the isomerization of some of the title compounds.
