Y. Motomura et al., SUPPRESSION OF ISOLATED NOISE IN THE DYNAMIC NEUTRON RADIOGRAPHY IMAGE BY USE OF MATHEMATICAL MORPHOLOGY, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section A, Accelerators, spectrometers, detectors and associated equipment, 377(1), 1996, pp. 93-95
In order to suppress the noise inherent in the image of dynamic neutro
n radiography, the morphological filtering technique was introduced. B
asic operations such as opening and closing are explained, and some re
sults obtained by operating them on the real image are shown. Opening
is very useful for the suppression of isolated positive noise caused b
y other radiation such as gamma-rays. It maintains the details of the
image and performs a faster operation than median filtering. Opening i
s also applicable to suppress the statistical fluctuation noise.
